The Soul Star and the Invocation of the Soul
The Soul Star is the etheric symbol of that portion of the Soul "put down" into matter. It is linked with the Soul — first by a thread of light, and later by a band of expanding rainbow fire as the fusion of personality and Soul proceeds.
It is an intelligent force used by the Soul to transform the matter of your physical, emotional, and mental bodies into a suitable vehicle through which it can function. The Soul Star is located approximately six inches above the head. To clairvoyant vision, it appears as a radiant spark — and it responds and becomes more active when the mind is consciously centered on it.
In spiritual aspirants just beginning to turn their attention toward inner unfoldment, the Soul Star appears as an enlarged spark of pale light. In more advanced disciples, it becomes much larger and more radiant. When activated by use of the Soul Invocation or meditation, its brilliant radiance may extend several feet.
The Soul Star is an extension of the Soul and will only respond to personality demands that further the Soul's own purpose. This is a critical point — it is not a tool the lower self can direct freely. Accordingly, the first step in any spiritual work — meditating, channeling, chanting, yoga postures, breathing exercises — is to invoke the Soul.
The reliable method for doing this is a very ancient mantram known as the Soul Invocation, from the book Rainbow Bridge II. When using the Soul Mantram, focus your attention in the Soul Star — about six inches above the head — holding firmly in mind the idea of the Soul's cooperation with the aspiring personality. Then speak aloud, with a pause at the end of each line.
This mantram is a tool to name and identify you as you truly are — bringing this reality downward and outward into the mental, emotional, and physical vehicles that comprise the lower self or personality. This is not simply a "linking in" process but conscious identification with what you really are, with the intent of producing this reality on the lower planes.
As each line is spoken aloud, the Soul Star responds with a specific and observable energetic effect:
Once the Soul Invocation has been said, the Soul Star will obey thought and move within the physical, emotional, and mental bodies, and the aura. It will expand or contract, send out a beam of energy, and radiate various colors of light — even without conscious direction.
"These are only the beginning powers of the Soul Star. It is a most powerful, versatile, and useful instrument of White Magic. It will not respond for anything else."
— Rainbow Bridge I, Two DisciplesIn the Soul Invocation, the first line brings about identification with the Soul. The second, third, and fourth lines are spoken as if you were the Soul invoking its subjective being — higher mind, spiritual love, and spiritual will. The fifth line states the plan the Soul has for you for this life.
The Soul Mantram was the first instruction given by the Tibetan Master Djwhal Khul to his group of students (Discipleship in the New Age, Vol. II, p. 123). It is the first step in the practice of any inner growth or spiritual process.
Without the use of this mantra — or some equivalent form of it — the authors state that yoga practices, meditation, chanting, breathing exercises, and similar techniques are ineffective in making changes in the inner vehicles. The authors of the Rainbow Bridge books reported clairvoyantly observing years of such practices which produced no changes in the inner vehicles of the students.
"Also witnessed that use of the mantram and its presence in the 'brooding consciousness' of the student made simple techniques rapidly effective in clearing and energizing the inner vehicles and in building radiant magnetic fields around purified forms."
— Rainbow Bridge II, p. 92A note on experimentation: Students are advised to refrain from experimenting with the Soul Star beyond the given techniques until after completing Phase II of the clearing work. If you choose to experiment, work with a clairvoyant who can observe the effects on your subtle bodies. Otherwise, as the source puts it — you will be "playing with fire while wearing a blindfold." The techniques given in the Rainbow Bridge books and on this website are safe and have been used effectively by many students for more than 40 years.
The diagram below — Chart 5 from The Science of Meditation (A.U.M. Chart V) — is the key reference map for understanding the Soul Invocation's effect on building the Antahkarana. It shows the relationship between the three head centers, the rainbow bridge, the Soul (labeled "Ego"), the permanent atoms, and the seven planes of the Cosmic Physical Plane. When reading the line-by-line breakdown below, refer back to this chart to see exactly where each line of the invocation projects its thread of light.
Beyond the immediate energetic response described above — the evocative effect — the Soul Invocation also has a cumulative structural effect: it builds the Antahkarana, the rainbow bridge between the lower and higher mind. Each time the invocation is sounded, lines of light are projected to the Soul and the three aspects of the spiritual triad, adding strands of light to the creative thread.
The specific mechanism, line by line:
Each time the Soul Invocation is sounded, these projected lines of light steadily advance the building of the Antahkarana. The Tibetan Master Djwhal Khul describes the six steps to building the antahkarana in Rays and the Initiations, p. 485–495.
The following is a first-hand account from a clairvoyant student — referred to as N.D. — who has worked with the Soul Mantram and Phase One techniques for over two decades. Their observations offer a rare, experiential window into what the Soul Invocation actually looks like from extended perception, and how it can vary from person to person. Source: soul1.org/ndobservations.htm
When I first started doing the Soul Mantra and Phase One many years ago, I could see my Soul Star as a light about the size of a quarter in its place 6 inches above the head. The size has increased tremendously over the years to a sphere about 8 inches in diameter.
Although it is said that it takes many lifetimes for the Soul Star to increase for an individual, we may be seeing more of this dramatic change in people who are now beginning this process. As we have left the Piscean Age and crossed the threshold of the Age of Aquarius, there is now an urgency for disciples who are "ripe" to clear their vehicles quickly so they may take their place in service with the Brotherhood. The planetary transformation is also affecting time, space, and dimension as this shift is occurring.
N.D. then describes what they observe, line by line, each time the Soul Invocation is spoken:
"So it seems my experience is similar and in keeping with what is written in Rainbow Bridge, but somewhat different. I imagine this is true for everyone."
— N.D., clairvoyant student, 20+ years of practiceN.D.'s account illustrates a key principle running through the Rainbow Bridge work: the Soul Star is an intelligent instrument responding to the individual Soul's needs on any given day. The colors and qualities experienced are not fixed — they are tailored. What remains consistent is the structure of the response itself, and the fact that the work produces real, observable, progressive changes in the energy field over time.
